Have you ever heard the term “Blue Ribbon River”? This is a term that identifies recreational fisheries of the highest quality – or a river on which you absolutely must try your luck with a fly rod!
Just minutes from Deer ValleyⓇ, the Provo River offers a premier “Blue Ribbon” trout fishery experience. Brown and Rainbow trout reach record lengths in this river and it’s estimated that there are more than 3,000 trout per mile in some areas!
A second river, the Weber River, is a “Blue Ribbon” tailwater and some will tell you, it’s the place for the bigger trout (average of 16-18 inches). It’s largely populated by Brown trout but there’s a good chance for Rainbow or Cutthroat trout as well.
Whether you are a seasoned fly fisher or new to the sport, Deer Valley’s preferred outfitter, All Seasons Adventures, can help with every detail of a half-or full-day excursion on the Provo River. Guides will handle getting your fishing license, arranging all the gear and tackle and even providing the transportation from your lodging property. They also provide White Water Rafting trips, trap shooting and more.
For the most rewarding experience, groups should remain small – we want you to go home with your best fish story yet! Guides will not be grouped with more than three guests in order to provide the most one-on-one instruction. Each guide has a lucky spot they are willing to share, some prefer to fish the Provo, while other guides love the Weber River. (Each river is approximately 20-30 minutes from Deer Valley). Expect to do a little hiking and crossing the river to reach the “perfect” spot.
We practice catch and release to allow the trout and other native species a long and healthy life. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure to get a photo of you and your fish—but you have to hold it yourself! (Don’t forget to brag about your biggest catch by tagging your photo with #DeerValleyMoment.)

Half-Day Fly Fishing Excursion:
A half-day tour provides four hours on the river (It’s usually a five-hour trip door-to-door) and is perfect for both first time or experienced anglers. This customized trip is offered in the morning (7:30 a.m. pick-up) or afternoon (2 p.m. pick-up).
Full-Day Fly Fishing Excursion:
Avid anglers will most appreciate a full day on the river. Expect at least six hours on the river during this tour. Lunch is included for the perfect Deer Valley day.
